Scalable Platform Rebuild & Location-Based Personalization
Role: Technical Lead / Platform & CMS Architecture
Agency: Springbox Digital Partners
Client: Clearesult
Website: clearesult.com
Platform: Contentful
Focus Areas: Energy Efficiency Programs, Utility Personalization, Lead Capture
Overview
Clearesult partnered with our team to rebuild clearesult.com from the ground up, creating a faster, more modular, and highly scalable platform that helps users discover personalized ways to save energy and money through their local utility providers.
The project combined location-based personalization, a headless CMS migration, and conversion-focused UX, resulting in one of Springbox’s most ambitious and successful launches—delivered on time and within budget.
The Business Context
Clearesult works with utilities nationwide to deliver energy efficiency programs, rebates, and incentives. Their website needed to:
- Serve users across hundreds of utility territories
- Surface location-specific programs and rebates
- Scale content without engineering bottlenecks
- Support lead capture and downstream CRM workflows
The existing platform struggled to meet these needs at scale.
The Challenge
The rebuild needed to solve multiple high-stakes constraints simultaneously:
- Personalize content based on user location
- Support hundreds of utility-specific pages
- Enable non-technical teams to publish safely and quickly
- Improve performance, traffic, and conversions
- Avoid CMS rigidity and long-term technical debt
This required a platform-first approach, not a traditional marketing site redesign.
My Role & Responsibilities
I served as a technical lead, responsible for platform architecture and CMS strategy.
Key responsibilities included:
- Designing and implementing the Contentful CMS model
- Supporting the build of a custom ZIP code lookup experience
- Structuring scalable, reusable content types
- Enabling localization and approval workflows
- Partnering with design and analytics teams to support conversion optimization
Strategy & Execution
1. Location-Based Personalization via ZIP Code Lookup
We implemented a custom ZIP code lookup tool that:
- Dynamically identified nearby utility providers
- Filtered available programs and rebates in real time
- Reduced friction for users seeking relevant incentives
This shifted the experience from generic browsing to immediate, personalized value.
2. Headless CMS Migration to Contentful
To eliminate publishing bottlenecks, we migrated the site to Contentful, enabling:
- Modular, reusable content components
- Safe content updates without developer involvement
- Localization support across regions and programs
- Automated approval workflows for governance
This reduced content publishing time by over 50% and dramatically improved operational efficiency.
3. Scalable Utility Page Architecture
We designed the CMS and front-end to support:
- Hundreds of utility-specific pages
- Consistent structure with localized flexibility
- SEO-safe URL and content patterns
- Long-term scalability without page-by-page engineering work
This allowed Clearesult to expand coverage without rebuilding the platform.
4. Conversion-Focused UX & CRM Integration
Working with design and analytics teams, we optimized:
- CTA placement and hierarchy
- Lead capture forms aligned to user intent
- Direct integrations between forms and Clearesult’s CRM
This ensured user interest flowed seamlessly from discovery to follow-up.
Results & Impact
The rebuild delivered measurable outcomes:
- Increased traffic and improved conversion rates
- Faster site performance and improved modularity
- Over 50% reduction in content publishing time
- Scalable foundation for hundreds of utility programs
- One of Springbox’s most successful enterprise launches
Most importantly, the platform aligned user needs, operational efficiency, and business goals.
