      Privacy Policy

      Last updated 7 August 2026

Short version: this is a personal portfolio site. I collect what you send me through a form, standard server and analytics data, and — if you arrived on a personalised link I emailed you — the fact that you opened it. I do not sell anything about you. You can opt out of the link tracking in one click, below.

This policy explains how personal information is handled on jorgealejandrodiez.com (the “site”). The site is operated by Jorge Alejandro Diez as an individual. If you have a question about anything here, email alediez2408@gmail.com.

      1. What is collected

      Information you give me

      • Contact forms. Your name, email address and message. These are delivered by Formspree, which processes and stores the submission in order to email it to me.
      • Newsletter. If you subscribe, your email address is stored by Kit (formerly ConvertKit). Every email includes an unsubscribe link.
      • Booking a call. The scheduling window is embedded from Cal.com. Anything you type into it — name, email, meeting notes — goes to Cal.com and to me.
      • Blog comments. Comments are hosted by Disqus, which operates its own account system and its own tracking. Comments are public.

      Information collected automatically

      • Server logs. The site is hosted on Netlify, which records standard request data such as IP address, browser user-agent, and the pages requested.
      • Analytics. The site loads Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are read. See Google’s privacy policy.
      • Fonts. Typefaces are served from Google Fonts, which means Google receives a request from your browser when a page loads.

      Personalised deck links

This is the one thing on this site that is not standard, so it gets its own section rather than a footnote.

When I email someone about working together, the link I send is sometimes personalised — for example jorgealejandrodiez.com/intro/firstname. When that page loads, the site records only the name segment from the URL and the time, so that I know my message was read by a person rather than filed by a mail server.

      Specifically:

      • What is stored is the text from the URL and a timestamp. No IP address, no user-agent, no referrer, and no cookie is stored with it.
      • Records are kept in a rolling window of the most recent 500 and are overwritten as new ones arrive.
      • If you visit /intro/ without a name in the link, nothing is recorded at all.
      • This is a request made by your browser when you choose to open the page. It is deliberately not an invisible tracking pixel inside the email itself.

To opt out permanently, open any page on this site with ?notrack=1 on the end of the address — for example jorgealejandrodiez.com/intro/?notrack=1. That stores a small flag in your browser and no further opens are recorded from it. You can also just email me and I will delete the records.

      Phone numbers and text messages

If you give us your phone number and agree on a call to receive texts, we store your number, your name, the date and time you consented, and who took the consent. That record exists so we can prove the consent was given, and it is kept for at least four years.

Phone numbers and consent information collected for text messaging are not sold, rented, or shared with third parties or affiliates for their marketing purposes. They are handled by our messaging provider solely to deliver the messages you agreed to. Reply STOP to any message to opt out, or HELP for help. Full details are in the SMS & Voice Consent Policy.

      2. Cookies and similar storage

The site itself does not need cookies to work. Cookies and similar browser storage are set by the third parties above — analytics, comments, and the embedded booking window — when those features load. Your browser settings can block or delete them, and blocking them will not stop the site from working, though comments and booking may not load.

      3. How the information is used

      • To reply to you when you get in touch.
      • To send the newsletter, if you asked for it.
      • To schedule and hold meetings you book.
      • To understand which pages are useful and improve them.
      • To know whether an email I sent you was opened, as described above.

Your information is not sold, rented, or traded. It is not used for advertising, and it is not shared with anyone beyond the service providers listed here, except where the law requires it.

      4. How long it is kept

      • Emails and form submissions: kept while there is a reason to, then deleted.
      • Newsletter subscription: until you unsubscribe.
      • Deck-link records: a rolling window of the most recent 500.
      • Logs and analytics: per the retention policies of Netlify and Google.

      5. Your rights

Depending on where you live — in particular in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or California — you may have the right to ask for a copy of the personal information held about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to certain processing, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights.

You do not need to invoke a statute to use them here. Email alediez2408@gmail.com and ask, and I will action it.

      6. Children

This site is aimed at a professional audience and is not directed at children under 13. I do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent me information, email me and I will delete it.

      7. Security

The site is served over HTTPS and the services above are established providers with their own security programmes. No site can promise perfect security, and this one does not.

      8. Changes

If this policy changes, the “last updated” date at the top changes with it. Material changes will be described at the top of this page.
