AITX x Base Power Hackathon
September 27, 2026
Cristian Henao, Victor Rojas, Nolan Robbins and I took 3rd place in the commercial track at the AITX Community Hackathon, hosted by Base Power at their Austin space and built around real problems in the energy space.
What we built
Two prototypes around one question: when the power goes out, what can you keep running?
- A home power planner. Scan appliances around the house, from the refrigerator to medical equipment, and see how long a Base Power battery would keep them running. Upload a photo of your breaker panel to see which circuits to keep on during an outage.
- A Texas utility-risk map. Utility and county outage history layered with flood, tornado, hurricane and other hazard exposure, scored into a Grid Risk Index for every county and utility, so Base's sales team can see where the grid is under the most pressure.
Thanks to Jake O'Shea and Michael Daigler for another great AITX hackathon, and to Base Power and Edsel Rivera for opening their space to Austin's builders.
